Dr. Duke Drake sat across from architect Burt Crosby in the spacious yet humble study of Ridgehaven Manor. The room was adorned with antique furniture, and a grand fireplace crackled with a comforting warmth. Dr. Drake, dressed in his signature white lab coat, nervously tapped his fingers on the mahogany desk as he reviewed the blueprints spread out before him.

Burt Crosby, a seasoned architect with a keen eye for detail, adjusted his glasses and leaned forward, studying the plans intently. His furrowed brow indicated his deep concentration as he analyzed the intricacies of the design.

"Dr. Drake, I must say, you have an extraordinary vision for this place," Burt began, his voice carrying a mix of admiration and curiosity. "Transforming Ridgehaven Manor into a school for young mutants is quite an ambitious endeavor."

Dr. Drake nodded, his gaze fixed on the blueprints. "Yes, Burt, it's a dream I've had for years. Mutants like myself often face adversity and discrimination due to our powers. I want to provide a safe haven for them, a place where they can learn and grow without fear."

Burt glanced up from the blueprints, his eyes meeting Dr. Drake's with a mix of sympathy and respect. "I can see the passion in your eyes, Dr. Drake. And I assure you, I'll do everything in my power to bring your vision to life."

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Dr. Drake's lips as he leaned back in his chair. "Thank you, Burt. Your support means a lot to me. But, as you know, I've spent most of my savings on acquiring this manor. I'm afraid my budget is quite limited."

Burt waved his hand dismissively, his enthusiasm undeterred. "Money doesn't always determine the success of a project, Dr. Drake. With creativity and resourcefulness, we can make the most of what we have. Besides, your determination alone is worth more than any monetary wealth."

Dr. Drake's gratitude shone in his eyes. "I'm grateful for your understanding, Burt. Together, we'll create a sanctuary for these young mutants, a place where they can embrace their abilities and receive the education they deserve."

As they continued their discussion, Dr. Drake and Burt delved into the finer details of the renovation. They discussed the structural modifications required to accommodate the unique needs of mutant students, such as reinforced walls and special training facilities. They brainstormed ways to blend the school seamlessly into the surrounding community, keeping its true purpose hidden from the public.

Throughout their conversation, Dr. Drake's thoughts occasionally drifted to the darker side of his abilities, his teleportation and disintegration powers that had caused so much destruction in the past. But now, as a medical doctor, he had chosen a different path—one of healing and protecting.

With each passing moment, the anticipation for the first year of Ridgehaven Academy grew. Dr. Drake and Burt knew that their collaboration would be the foundation of something extraordinary, an institution that would empower and uplift young mutants, all while safeguarding their future.

And as they meticulously poured over the blueprints, the promise of Ridghaven Academy's inaugural year shimmered with hope and the potential to change countless lives.
