History
Personal History | Duke grew up in a good home with his parents and brother. It was a normal childhood until his powers revealed themselves after he turned 17. He was working in his mother's rose garden when everything he touched literally turned to dust and decayed. The early days he was unable to control it and killed multiple plants and caused damage to the family home when he caused a load bearing wall to disintegrate. He was embarrassed and ran away. Having grown up camping with his father, he was able to survive for a couple of months while learning to get his powers under control. Once he did have them controlled he returned home and finished high school. He vowed that because his touch brought death and decay that he would do his best to restore life. Duke worked his way through medical school and became a family physician in New Orleans. Throughout his years as a doctor he began to notice that his younger patients began exhibiting powers like he did. Dukeand a few of his colleagues began swapping notes and trying to help those children who were shunned by their families. After assisting several runaways he decided he needed to set up something more permanent to help this need in his community. Duke purchased an old antebellum mansion 45 miles outside of New Orleans named Ridgehaven Manor. He reached out to his contacts and began accepting applications for the staff and students for the School of the Gifted. |
